Male Hair Loss – Best Looks for Thinning Hair

Many men experience male hair loss sooner or later in life. While some men take this in their stride, others find their hair loss more difficult to cope with. At the London Centre of Trichology we can help to diagnose the problem of male hair loss and prescribe the relevant treatment. A make-over can do wonders for your self-image and a trip to the hairdressers can give you a big confidence boost. Following are some looks that are ideally suited to those who are experiencing male hair loss.

Great Looks for Thinning Hair

1. Spiky Hair

Prince William has recently been spotted sporting a spiky look, which does a great job of concealing his thinning locks. This short, spiky look is perfect for guys who have hair that is generally thinning as it draws the eyes away from     the thinning hair and focuses them on the style instead. This look can be achieved by styling the hair with gel so that it points and spikes in different directions, covering up any thinning areas. Although this is a trendy, youthful look, it can look good on men that are well into their fifties.

2. The ‘Just Got Out of Bed’ Look

When you are in the early stages of losing your hair, there is no need to restrict yourself to a short cut. You could consider a longer style, with shaggy, longer layers. This is a very sexy, slightly messy, ‘just got out of bed’ look. You can ask the hairdresser for a longer, floppy fringe and to cut the hair to a medium length over the rest of the head. This is easy to maintain at home.  Put gel or styling cream on your hair and use your fingers to create a tousled, messy look. This is a great way to disguise the early stages of male hair loss.

3. Slicked Back Look

The slicked back look is perfect for concealing bald spots near the crown. In order to achieve this look, you will need to grow it longer at the front so that you can effectively comb it back to hide your bald spot. You can use a styling product to slick it back and hold it in place. This is a slicked back look and not a comb over, so remember to comb it back and avoid combing to the side. Nicolas Cage carries off this distinguished look very successfully.

4. Long, Floppy Fringe

Owen Wilson carries off this look very well. This is good for men with receding hairlines as it covers the forehead and hides the thinning area. As well as growing the fringe long, you can also wear it long at the back and sides.

5. Shaved All Over

Bald men are known for their virility and men that have the confidence to go completely bald are irresistible to women. Another bonus of this style is that you don't have to fuss around with shampoo and styling. You can literally wash and go.

6. Crew Cut

This is particularly suitable for men that are losing the hair on their temples or crown. This style suits men of all ages and looks. You can ask the hairdresser to create the illusion of thick hair by blending the thinner parts of your hair in with the fuller parts.

7. Buzz Cut

The buzz cut is an excellent, versatile style that looks great for any occasion. It looks equally good with a suit as it does with jeans and a t-shirt. This is another style that is easy to look after and requires little or no maintenance.

8. Short and Sexy

If you are in the position of losing your hair at the sides but still having hair on top you can ask the hair dresser for a short hair cut that's a bit longer than a buzz cut to maximise what you have on top. Brush your hair forward with your fingers using a small amount of styling product to give you an elegant, sophisticated look.
