Female Hair Loss – A guide to the best styles for spring that will bring back your confidence and make you look amazing.

Female hair loss is more common than you might imagine, with over one in four women in America suffering  from the problem. For many women their hair is their crowning glory and female hair loss can lead to serious emotional problems. A new hairstyle can give you just the confidence you need and  2013 sees a range of sexy new hair styles that are just what the doctor ordered to boost your sex appeal this spring. {"you are not alone" repeated below}

If you are experiencing loss of hair, you are probably finding it very traumatic. A visit to a good hairdresser with experience of styling the heads of women with  thinning or falling hair, can be a very uplifting experience and  can really help to make you feel on top of the world.

Before taking a trip to the salon flick through some magazines for styles that appeal to you. Take the pictures with you to the salon and show them to your stylist. Your stylist will then be able to advise you on what will best suit your colouring and the shape of your face.

Many hairdressers specialise in  female hair loss and have a number of clients with similar challenges. Such a stylist is ideally placed to help you choose the best styles that will work for you.

If you have symptoms of female hair loss it is a relief to know that you’re not alone. You can visit the experts at the London Centre of Trichology for a free consultation and diagnosis where you will find the best treatment tailored for your needs.

Top Styles for Spring 2013

This season is all about the natural look. Having natural, and not too perfect hair is a must. We have some great, effortless looks for you this spring.

French Knot

A 60’s look, the French knot is perfect for medium length to long hair and very French in style. Start by applying mousse to the hair and blow-dry it straight back, without a parting, then  twist your hair gently and pull it up into a loose knot, as if you were going to do a French twist,  then fold the ends under to form a loop (it’s essential that you keep the knot loose as if it’s too tight it can damage your hair). Pull the hair so that it fans out across the top of the head. Complete the look by tying a scarf round it. You can wear different coloured scarves to coordinate with your outfits. The scarf can be strategically placed to hide any signs of hair loss.

Gold

Gold is a delicate look that  is reminiscent of a medieval maiden in the woods, similar to Liv Tyler in Lord of the Rings. This is another great low maintenance style that is natural and at the same time very contemporary and luxurious.  To achieve the gold effect, just divide the hair by parting it down the middle. Pull two sections back and secure at the crown using hair pins.  Add “twisted gold” metal hairpieces for a touch of simple glamour and elegance. Hair pins can also be used to help disguise any balding patches at the back of your head. This style looks best on ladies with long, straight, unlayered hair.

Pixie

This style is perfect for short hair. The textured pixie look suits women with all face shapes and hair textures. This timeless, chic cut is easy to look after and can be styled effortlessly in next to no time.  You can either go for a very short asexual look or wear the hair longer on top for softer femininity.

Messy Bob

The messy bob is a sexy, "just got out of bed" look that also suits women with all face shapes and hair textures. Women with round faces should be sure to leave plenty of length under their chin, for a more flattering style. Another way to wear this look, if you have a wide centre parting (such as pop star Fergie) is to wear it with a deep side parting. The layers in this bob are perfect for covering up female hair loss.
